Residents of Kofar Waika area of Kano metropolis have performed special Alqunut prayers against the Kano State Bureau for Land Management for demolishing their houses and preventing others from building on their plots.
The residents alleged that the board demolished the buildings along the Yusuf Maitama Sule University road after granting them approval to develop their plots, vacating an earlier order to stop the development a few years ago.
They added that they resorted to prayers after several attempts to resolve the issue with the bureau.
The residents therefore appealed to Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Kano state governor to come to their aid.
Reacting, Muhammad Yusuf Danduwa, permanent secretary of the bureau denied giving the residents permission to build on the plots.
He added that the bureau is only demolishing buildings that are erected without following due process.
