Residents of Makafin Dala community in Dala local government, Kano metropolis have protested against the sale of land adjoining their mosque.
One of the residents who pleaded anonymity told the Inda Ranka program of Freedom Radio that the community has constructed toilets and ablution stands on the plot.
“Some builders came in the night and dug foundation trenches to fence off the land we are using for ablution and urinating.” He said.
The resident added that a portion of the land is also used as a prayer space as the mosque has a carrying capacity of less than 100 people.
He also alleged that the Dala local government council has sold the piece of land to a businessman at the cost of N3 million.
However, the council is yet to respond to the allegations despite several calls to the land officer by Freedom Radio reporters.
