Twenty-six Islamic scholars in Kano are officially campaigning for the re-election of the state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a statement by the ruling APC says.
The 26 Ulama are serving in a campaign committee chaired by Ali Baba ‘A gama lafiya’ Fagge, special adviser to the governor on religious affairs.
KANO TODAY reports that this marks a new development in Kano state for Islamic scholars to be openly recognized as members of a campaign team for a particular party.
In the past, Islamic scholars are known to support various candidates and parties while maintaining that they are using their independent judgment rather than partisan affiliation to select suitable candidates for their followers.
