Kano state Hisba Board has arrested 65 beggars in the state capital this week.
KANO TODAY recalls that street begging is prohibited in Kano state even though beggars still dot the metropolis.
Mr Adamu Yahaya, public relations officer of the commission told journalists that the beggars were arrested in a single operation between 5pm-7pm.
He said the beggars were arrested around Dan Agundi, Kofar Famfo, Gwammaja, Tarauni, and State road.
The arrested beggars include 55 old people and 10 children, he said.
He added that first time offenders have been handed over to their relatives while repeat offenders will be prosecuted.
