The emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II was soaked in rainfall on Thursday as he conducts the traditional horse riding procession of Hawan Dorayi marking the end of Eid-el-Adha celebrations.
KANO TODAY reports that Emir Sanusi II ordered courtiers to roll his umbrella as the other horse riders are not allowed to use umbrellas under royal protocol.
The emir set out from Kofar Kwaru through Mandawari, Madungurum, Garangamawa, Warure, Aisami, and Goron Dutse areas of Kano city.
The procession left the city via Kofar Famfo and terminated at Gandun Sarki in Dorayi area of Gwale local government.
It was at Kofar Famfo that rain started falling on the procession.
Usually, the Emir of Kano observes Hawan Panisau during Eid-el-Adha but it was replaced with Hawan Dorayi this year to avoid trampling on farms in the Panisau area.
The Hawan Dorayi horse procession was first observed by Emir Abdullahi Bayero who used to visit his farm house at Dorayi Babba every Eid-el-Fitr.
