A coalition of elders and activists, Kano election peace committee has appealed to politicians to avoid hate and dangerous speech during the 2019 election campaigns.
KANO TODAY reports that the committee made the plea at a press conference held on Monday.
Ibrahim Umar, an Emeritus Professor who co-chairs the committee cautioned youths in Kano state to avoid using social media to spread hate speech and inciting messages under the guise of political campaign.
He said the committee is not meant to prosecute anybody but to appeal to the conscience of stakeholders.
In his address, John Namaza, a reverend father and co-chair of the committee said they are working with all political stakeholders in Kano including security agencies to ensure peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections.
