The appeal court Kaduna division has granted the application by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its gubernatorial candidate, Abba Kabiru Yusuf seeking to present omitted witnesses before the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
A statement signed by the candidate’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said the application was filed after the July 16th ruling of the Kano Tribunal that the PDP and its candidate cannot present witnesses that were omitted from the list submitted to the court.
The eight omitted witnesses include the state chairman of the PDP, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi.
The appeal court’s decision was read this morning in Kaduna by Justice (Mrs) A.O. Okoji on behalf of the five justices.
The respondents; INEC, APC and Governor Ganduje through their counsels vow to appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court in Abuja.
In his reaction, on behalf of Abba Kabir Yusuf’s legal team, Bashir Yusuf Tudun Wazirci said they approached the appeal court with utmost optimism of a positive outcome.
